At ANC Car S.A., through our subsidiaries operating under the brands Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent a Car, “ANC Group”, “we”, “our” or “us”), we respect your privacy. We have implemented this privacy policy and cookie policy to explain our data collection and use practices. You can learn more in the following sections.

What Information We Collect.

Information collected about you.

You can provide us with certain information when making a transaction or interacting with our websites and offices. We collect the following types of personal information:

  • Your name, contact information, date of birth, driver's license number and expiration date, and emergency contact information;
  • Information regarding the rental of the vehicle, for example, office, date and type of rental, and preferences;
  • Your credit card details, Enterprise, Alamo or National rewards information, online user account details, corporate/member ID numbers, passport details, and information about frequent flyer program memberships or partner travel agents;
  • Information provided about your marketing preferences or data provided during your participation in surveys or promotional offers;
  • Photographs you submit of you and your driver's license or receipts provided through camera features available on some of our mobile apps and websites;
  • Third parties provide us with additional information about you, including the following Reference Sources, such as third-party online booking sites (which provide us with general contact information and a booking confirmation number to facilitate the rental), your company (general contact information) and your insurance provider (general contact and policy information). Where appropriate, our referral programs. Hotels, airlines and enrollment clubs that provide us with their general contact details and reservation information. Credit reporting entities that, for fraud prevention purposes, provide us with identity-related information. Franchisees who provide us with information about their rental transactions. Service providers, such as customer service (information related to customer service and inquiries made by you), customer survey providers (your response to our customer service surveys) and marketing providers (information to help us better communicate our products and services). With your consent, we will access location-based information or collect location markers from your mobile device or based on your IP address. We will use this information to provide you with notifications related to our offices, information about returns, local offers, or other data that we think will be useful in providing you with better services. We do not use this information to specifically locate you for any reason other than to provide you with our services. With your consent, our application will use your device's camera. If you have allowed us to use your location information or your device's camera in the past and you want to revoke this permission, change the settings on your device.

Children's privacy.

Our websites and our online marketing are not aimed at children under 18 or minors in the corresponding country, and Grupo ANC does not intentionally collect personal information about them. However, if you believe that your child has provided us with their personal information and you need to request its deletion, please contact us using the link at the top of this page.

How we use your data.

We use the information we collect from or about you to provide our services and for the following purposes:

When it is necessary to sign a contract with you and offer you services during its validity period, for example:

  • Help you carry out the transactions you request, such as booking, renting or buying motor vehicle vehicles.

  • Help us provide better products and services, for example, to evaluate the performance of our staff, evaluate the quality of the products and services received and help us improve our websites, facilities and services.
  • Compile statistics and analysis about the use that customers make of our websites, products and services. These statistics are used only to provide better services, products, features and exceptional functionality to all current and future users.
  • Build a profile about you and your interactions with us so that we can make available to you personalized offers, opportunities and services that may be of interest to you.
  • Protect our legal rights and manage the security of our networks and properties. For example, we will use CCTV systems to ensure the security of our facilities and we will maintain lists of customers who pose a default or security risk.
  • Sharing your data with third parties to prevent fraud and protect our business interests and rights, as well as privacy, security and property, or those of a group. We will do this to collect unpaid bills, avoid liability for any penalties you incur (for example, traffic tickets) and to process claims.
  • Share your data with third parties so that we can seek solutions or limit the damages we deal with, or apply the terms of any rental agreement or the terms and conditions of our websites. We will also share your data with third parties if the rights of another individual are violated.

When you have given your consent, for example:

  • Help us provide you with the most appropriate vehicles, such as those with adaptive driving devices. In some cases, this will require us to explicitly infer or collect information about your health or physical condition.
  • Allow us to use telematics systems (for example, to keep track of mileage and location in the event of theft and to let us know if telematics systems have been removed or tampered with).
  • Send you specific marketing or promotional communications, opportunities and services that may be of interest to you. These will include invitations to join our loyalty programs, upgrade announcements, electronic newsletters, and communications regarding registration forms or incomplete online reservations. You will receive some of the offers through advertising on non-Enterprise sites, such as social networks.
  • Send you messages with urgent communications related to your transaction (for example, delays in the construction of the airport office), opportunities to extend the length of the rental, customer experience surveys, marketing promotions such as coupons, discounts, last-minute special offers, or information about loyalty programs and rewards.

Retention of your personal information.

We keep your personal information for as long as we need it to meet our business objectives, as indicated below:

  • Marketing purposes: We keep data linked to cookies and other online identifiers for up to three years. In addition, we keep other marketing information, such as data associated with email subscription and enrollment in loyalty programs, up to 7 years after your last interaction with us.
  • Rental transactions: We keep the data associated with your rental agreement for up to 7 years from the date of the rental, in accordance with other local legal requirements. We keep records of payments made for 2 years from the date of the transaction (depending on the rental office).
  • Customer service-related inquiries: We keep general inquiries for three years, unless you file a complaint, in which case we keep the data from that complaint for seven years.
  • Disputes and law enforcement: If we are involved in government or regulatory litigation or investigations, we keep the data for the entire period of litigation or investigation and for the next 5 years. If an agreement states that we must keep data longer, then we will do so for the period necessary to enforce the agreement. If we provide data to the authorities, we keep a record of it for one year after the end of the investigation.

Who we share information with.

Subsidiaries.

We share the information we collect from you and about you with our affiliates (“Affiliates”) to facilitate the transactions you have requested and (with your consent) for marketing purposes. See the subsidiaries page for a list. This list is subject to change from time to time, so you should check it periodically to check for changes. Employees of our subsidiaries in the IT, marketing, operations and customer service departments will use your data, as described in this Privacy Policy, including, if required by applicable law, sending you information about products and services or responding to your inquiries.

Headquarters.

The nature of the business and operations requires us to share your reservation and reservation information with our Enterprise Holdings Headquarters. For these transactions, the Franchisee is an independent data controller, or the equivalent under applicable law, and will maintain its own privacy policy with respect to the rental data you provide to the Franchisee. Our service providers and business partners

We will share your data with third parties, such as (1) payment, administration and technical assistance providers or insurance replacements, corporate rentals, or other partners or clients to facilitate your rental transactions and rewards programs with partners of the Enterprise Holdings group; (2) companies that carry out consumer analysis or satisfaction surveys on our behalf; (3) communication providers who send emails and other marketing and service communications on our behalf; (4) customer service providers customer, such as the provider of our live chat, in order to provide you with customer service; (5) debt collection providers; (6) claims processors; and (7) our marketing and advertising partners, as well as third-party communication media, including social media sites, with whom we share aggregated or anonymous information about our customers, so that they can send personalized advertising messages on our behalf, analyze, improve and manage our data, direct mobile analysis services, in addition to maintaining and improving our services (in accordance with relevant confidentiality agreements).

Government authorities.

Your personal data may also be shared with government authorities, as described above.

Sale, merger or change in control.

Your data may be transferred to another company in the event of a transfer, change of ownership, restructuring or transfer of all or part of Grupo ANC's companies or assets. This may occur if the parties have entered into a contract to the effect that the collection, use and disclosure of information is limited to the above-mentioned purposes of the business transaction, including a determination to proceed with the business transaction or not. We may post customer testimonials on our websites with personal data. We use a third-party vendor to manage this process. This provider is responsible for obtaining your consent as appropriate, removing content if you request it, and answering any questions you may have.

Global data transfers and processing.

In order to operate and provide services to you globally, entities around the world may transfer and access the information you provide to us or that we collect. These entities include:

  • Franchise or corporate offices: If you make a reservation that requires a franchise in another country or an Enterprise corporate office (for example, in the United States, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland and the United Kingdom), we will transfer your personal information to that country in order to facilitate the requested transaction.
  • Enterprise Global Information Systems Established in the United States: Enterprise maintains its global information systems in the United States. If you provide us or we collect personal information about you outside the United States, we will transfer and keep that information in the United States.
  • Third-party service providers: We use third-party service providers that are located outside the countries where we have corporate offices, such as call centers, claims processors and IT providers. When we transfer your personal information to our third-party service providers outside the EEA, we use standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

Your rights.

Other of your rights may include: 1) request a copy of your personal information; 2) correct it; 3) delete certain categories or types of information; 4) restrict certain types of processing; 5) obtain the information you provide in a structured and machine-readable format, and 6) transfer some of this information to other organizations.

You have the right to object to the processing of personal information based on our legitimate interests. In cases where we have asked for your consent to process information, you have the right to withdraw this consent at any time.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory body regarding our processing of your personal information and/or the way in which we have answered or managed any questions you have raised.

We reserve the right not to allow access to your information or to limit your rights (if such disclosure is prohibited by law or if the rights of another person may be violated). In some cases, this may mean that we may be able to keep your personal information even if you withdraw your consent.

Marketing preferences.

You have the right to object to direct marketing, as well as to the creation of profiles for direct marketing purposes. You can opt out of direct marketing communications from Enterprise Holdings and our subsidiaries and franchisees by following the instructions included in the communications you receive. You can refuse to see ads that appear on non-Enterprise sites by clicking on the ad options icon in the ad or through the privacy settings on the site.

Changes to these policies.

When necessary, we will update the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our privacy practices. If we make any changes, we will notify you by email (at the email address specified in your account), through an announcement on this site, or by any other means as required or permitted by law, before such change takes effect. We recommend that you periodically check this site to be aware of the latest information regarding our privacy practices.
